No! PlagScan offers much more than that. We check with online sources as well as internal databases and everything you or your organization has previously uploaded. We also scan parts of sentences. PlagScan provides a quick and systematic check of entire documents, not only parts of a document that are suspicious.

Absolutely. PlagScan provides an Application Programming Interface (API), which allows you to integrate PlagScan's functionality into your existing system. For example: After the student submits a document, the analysis automatically occurs in the background. When the teacher accesses the paper for grading, the annotated version would already be there. This way, possible plagiarism can be considered during the teacher's normal grading routine and no extra work is necessary. Please have a look at our integration documentation.

PlagScan can basically process any language. Plagiarism scanning works for any language that uses international UTF-8 encoding. This means that text of any language containing Latin, Arabic or Cyrillic characters can be checked for plagiarism (exceptions are only the syllable- / pictogram-based languages like Japanese, Korean, Chinese).

Your personal data are never sold or passed on to anybody by PlagScan or our business associates. Read more in our data protection guidelines.

Organizational users can create assignments with deadlines and generate a submission code. With this code, third parties can upload their documents directly through the plagiarism portal to the user account. The organizational user is then able to flag the documents uploaded with that particular code in order to keep track of them.

You can find a list of organizations using PlagScan for plagiarism searches in our Success Stories.

Yes, you can resubmit different drafts of your work. But remember to adjust your data policy within the settings in order to not check against your own documents. However, you may have documents within your account you want to check your document against. In that case, you can choose to delete any older versions of the document you have submitted – otherwise, it would be listed as a possible source. This would lead to false-positive detections and a possibly confusing report. You can still deselect this "self-plagiarism" source easily, within the interactive report.

A PlagPoint (PP) PlagPoints is one credit point of PlagScan's credit system. 1 PP allows the analysis of up to 100 words (1-100 words = 1 point, 101-200 words = 2 points, 201-300 words = 3 points, etc.). You can buy packages of different sizes to suit your scope of analysis.
